Refund and Return Policy

At Carat Antwerp, we are committed to ensuring that every client has a confident and exceptional jewellery experience. Due to the personalized nature of many of our creations, certain conditions apply regarding returns and refunds.

Right of Return

In accordance with Belgian consumer protection legislation regarding business practices, clients have the right to return eligible purchased products within 14 days after delivery.

This right of return only applies to products that meet the applicable return conditions and exclusions described below.

Exclusions: Personalized & Made-to-Order Jewellery

According to Article 80, §4, 2° of the Belgian Law on Market Practices and Consumer Protection (LBC), the right of return does not apply to products that are specially manufactured, customized, or personalized according to the client’s specifications or that have a personal character.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Tailor-made jewellery
  • Custom-designed jewellery pieces
  • Loose diamonds with altered specifications based on the client’s request
  • Gemstones selected or modified according to specific client requirements
  • Products available on our website that have been altered in any way at the client’s request

As most Carat Antwerp jewellery pieces are personalized or made to order, many items are therefore not eligible for return.

In-Store Purchases

Clients are also welcome to purchase jewellery directly from our boutique:

For purchases made in-store, the 14-day right of return does not apply, as clients have had the opportunity to personally inspect and evaluate the jewellery before completing their purchase.

Return Conditions

To be eligible for a return, the jewellery must be returned in its original condition.

The return will not be accepted if:

  • The jewellery has been worn, used, altered, or damaged
  • The original packaging is incomplete, damaged, or no longer in its original condition
  • Required documentation is missing

All items included with the original delivery must be returned, including:

  • Original packaging
  • Diamond certificates
  • Warranty documentation
  • Any accompanying documents or materials

Requesting a Return

Before returning an item, the client must notify Carat Antwerp by email at:

office@caratantwerp.com

The return request must be submitted within 14 days after receiving the order.

After receiving confirmation from Carat Antwerp regarding the return request, the product must arrive at:

within fourteen (14) days after the final day of the applicable return period.

Return Shipping & Insurance

The client is responsible for arranging and covering all return shipping costs.

All returned jewellery must be shipped exclusively to the official Carat Antwerp address:

Returns sent to any other address will not be accepted.

Carat Antwerp BV is not responsible for arranging return shipments or providing insurance coverage for returned items.

The client is fully responsible for:

  • Return shipping costs
  • Insurance coverage during return transport
  • Any customs fees, duties, or incorrect customs procedures related to the re-importation of jewellery from outside the European Union

Carat Antwerp BV cannot be held responsible for any loss, theft, or damage occurring during the return shipment.

Inspection of Returned Jewellery

Once a returned item has arrived at Carat Antwerp BV, it will undergo a detailed quality inspection by one of our authorized inspectors.

The inspection ensures that the jewellery and packaging meet all return requirements.

Carat Antwerp BV will confirm receipt of the returned package by email.

Refund Process

If the returned jewellery successfully passes the quality inspection, the purchase amount will be refunded within 14 working days after approval.

Refunds will be processed via bank transfer to the account provided by the client.

Please note:

  • Shipping costs are excluded from the refund amount.
  • If the original order qualified for complimentary shipping, the applicable shipping fee will still be deducted from the refund amount upon return.

Rejected Returns

If the returned jewellery or packaging does not meet the required return conditions, no refund will be issued.

In this case, the returned product remains the property of the client. The client must collect the item within two weeks after receiving notification from Carat Antwerp BV that the return has been refused.

Upon request, the item can be shipped back to the client after payment of all applicable shipping costs, charges, and any customs-related expenses.

Repeated Returns

To prevent misuse of the return policy, if a client has previously received a refund after returning a purchase and wishes to return a second purchase, Carat Antwerp reserves the right to apply an administrative fee of 5% of the purchase value.
